Again a hand made knob and large screws
used on the shortened handle top.
There is also an exposed gear. For
this reason alone I don't think these instruments were ever intended
for real use, I think they were just experimental versions to
try out the various modifications. I should add that they were
not "one offs" made at station level. I have seen several
of these "interim" models though how many existed I
have no idea.
